Children’s Ministry
Ferris Heights UMC offers programs and activities for children from 6 weeks of age through 5th grade. Our mission is to engage children in an age appropriate manner with scripture, so they may know God loves them and begin to build a Biblical foundation for their faith journey.
Sunday Morning Opportunities
Nursery
Little ones, from 6 weeks to 3 years old, are welcome in our Nursery during Sunday School and the Worship Service. The Nursery is located in Room 101 in the educational wing and is staffed from 8:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. each Sunday.
Ferris Heights UMC offers programs and activities for children 6 weeks old through 5th grade.
Sunday School
Children 4 years through 5th grade are invited to participate in our Sunday School class. Our FH Kids Sunday School class meets in Room 100 in the educational wing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. each Sunday. Led by staff and volunteers, the children read a Bible story, learn a Bible verse, participate in a craft or activity, and have a snack!
Kids Church
Children 4 years and older begin worship with their families in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. After the Children’s Sermon, all kids are welcome to follow the Children’s Ministry staff to the educational wing for Kids Church, where they will engage with a Bible story and sing kid-friendly worship songs together! Kids Church is geared toward children 4 years to 3rd grade, but 4th and 5th graders are welcome too. Parents/guardians may pick up their child from Room 101 in the educational wing after the main Worship Service.
Acolyte Program
Children in 4th grade through 8th grade are invited to participate in the main Worship Service in the Sanctuary each Sunday by serving as acolytes. Acolytes assist with the service by (1) bringing the light of Christ into the Sanctuary and lighting the candles at the altar; (2) helping collect the mission offering and leading various readings during the service; and (3) taking the light of Christ out of the Sanctuary at the end of the service to symbolize that we take God’s light with us into the world.

Children’s Ministry Leaders
Ferris Heights UMC prides itself on providing a safe, fun environment for children to have a Christian education. To that end, all of the staff and volunteers who help with our Children’s Ministry programs are required to pass a criminal background check and complete a comprehensive training through MinistrySafe.
